The idea was that we would be undertaking the same challenges from our own schools, but would key an eye out (digitally) about how the other teams were doing.
The first challenge was to build a free-standing tower using certain materials that could raise a flag.
The second challenge was a paper planes contest. Students could enter both a 'flight distance' and a 'flight time' competition.
These activities linked well with our Forces and Motion theme, so children were able to use some of the language and scientific terms we have been learning about.
Thanks to Wayne for coming along, giving a hand and showing us your own paper plane designs.
Check out the Linwood Connected Kids blog for some of our reflections and more info.
The tower building challenge was challenging but the team i was in worked well together. If i could do the tower building challenge again with the same team i would probably stick to the plan we originally planed to do and also not wing like we did. The paper plane challenge was fun but hard because there was a a lot of wind so some paper planes didn't travel far. If i were to do that again i would fly I'm paper plane once if it works i would not keep flying it so it would eventually not fly at all. It was also good that everyone participated and everyone was engaged and no one didn't want to do it. Most of us learnt that it is hard to have a tower stand by itself with out touching it with the materials we had to make it.
ReplyDeleteAlso hope Bamford had just as much fun as we did.
ReplyDeleteThat was really cool but my desine was not good
ReplyDeleteIts was a challenge because i only had one plane but i was being a drifter

ReplyDeleteMy chellenge was the tower chellenge and the paper plane chellenge. First the tower chellenge. It was a chellenge because we had weird materials to make a tower. Like 50 staws, 2 rolls of sella- tape 10 pieces of paper scissors and string. My group did not get a tower up intill there were 20 mins left. But we got one up and it was 84 centermeters high and that was 2nd tallest in the class. There were rules like you could not stick it to the floor with the sella-tape and when you raised the flag you could not touch your tower. You also had to raise the flag to the top of your tower and get it on film. Paper plane time. It was a chellenge because the was a lot of wind and made the planes not fly that good. Mr K gave us a website fo how to make paper plane. Some said they were hard to make and some said they were easy to make. I did not use the website because i had a plane in my mind. There was a contest for the longest distance a d for flight time. I went to the logest distance. Mr K measured 30 meters with flags. My plane went 28 meters long. The wind gave me a little boost but sometimes it didn't.
ReplyDeleteIt was a challenge because my team in the tower building challenge did not work good. Also in the paper plans I could not find a good plan!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a challege because i had one plane
ReplyDeleteThe tower building challenge was one of my challenge because the activity was challenging and it let us work as a team also the plane making challenge is one of highlights because it was creative. It was creative because we got to create our own amazing planes after that we tested them there were two stations one was fight time and how long it can go my how long it can go score was 43m.
ReplyDeleteMy challenge was getting the twon to stang up because it was very woble so we had to keep making a bass because it keeped foling down so we were thing raelly hard we made it but it did not make it.
